Student Publishing.com is a website where teachers can register the students in their classes so students can publish their own book with a very professional look. This works well for students in upper elementary grades. Another option is to make a class book where each student is responsible for one page. This option may be easier for younger students.Students get very excited about the opportunity to become real authors and illustrators of their book. I used the try me button to see what it was like to make one page. It was not difficult to enter the writing or draw a picture, but i had some problems getting color to fill properly. All options are not available on the try me section, so students will have more choices when they are involved in a registered project. Although each student willl receive their published book free, parents can order additional copies and the school can receive a free copy of a book for the library.
Testimonials:
“Each year fourth graders in my classroom complete several projects related to Texas history. The project relating to Texas symbols can be so beautifully done with the books students write through Creations by You. The book project not only completes our educational objectives, but the student’s handwriting and artwork are kept for years to come in a professionally bound book that the students are so proud to have. I have really enjoyed working with the folks at Creations by You!”
“Each year my second grade students study fairy tales extensively, and then write their own. When it comes time to publish them, even my reluctant writers are eager to begin. The looks on their faces when they get their books back is indescribably priceless! I have received many dedicated to me over the years, and they always ask if they get to do it again in third grade. The StudentPublishing.com projects provide wonderful way to motivate students to write and to take pride in their work. I will continue to use them each year with my students.”
Incorporation in the Classroom:
